Amali’s Fundraiser Bike Ride 2016

A fantastic team of bike riders completed the mammoth 172 km Wangaratta to Bright, (and return) Ride with Amali’s grandpa on his 60th birthday to raise money for Amali’s ongoing treatment in USA.

An awesome team of 5 men met at sunrise at 6.15 am and set off in good spirits – 5 riders included Mark Rennick and Tim Bell from VicRoads and Amalis’ grandpa Allan and 2 of his friends. Although they ride most weekends, this was the longest ride in one day that they have attempted. The strong winds out of bright slowed things down and tired everyone out!! A lunch break on return to Myrtleford reenergised the cyclists and all completed the 172km loop. Very impressive!!!

Thanks to everyone for your support and a huge thank you to Mark and Tim.

When all the sponsor money is collected, we anticipate raising around -$6000

A great team effort!

How will you spend your next birthday?

Amali’s grandfather, Allan Kennedy, will spend his 60th birthday cycling 160 km to raise money for her treatment.

A cycling team from VicRoads is preparing to join him riding from Wangaratta to Bright (and back) on 6 November 2016

Amali has now been accepted into the Intensive Program in Philadelphia. This means that she will need to travel to Philadelphia every 6 months for the next two years for ongoing assessment. This intensive program, as well as travel and accommodation in USA will cost the family a total of $59 000 plus the cost of a respiration machine that Amali needs ($3600), a total of $62 600.

Family and friends are doing whatever they can to raise the funds needed to keep Amali in the program. VicRoads has supported Amali since day one. Your support is so appreciated. And now, a new opportunity to help Amali get to Philadelphia!

If you are interested in sponsor the bike ride please let us know.

We need your support!!
